DAWN Co-Authors Publication on Drone Warfare’s Psychological Impact
DAWN Inc. is proud to announce the publication of “Psychological Sequelae of Drone Attacks” in the Primary Care Companion for CNS Disorders, co-authored by our President Yulia Brockdorf, and released this morning.
This collaborative work, authored by American and Ukrainian clinicians from DAWN Inc., Global Response Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base, and Harvard Medical School, examines the emerging phenomenon of “drone anxiety.” The article discusses a new form of combat stress affecting Ukrainian veterans living under constant threat of unmanned aerial systems.
The research draws on cases treated by Ukrainian clinicians in Kyiv and reflects ongoing bilateral exchanges between our teams. In March 2025, DAWN, Global Response Medicine, Home Base and MGH leadership traveled to Ukraine to strengthen trauma-informed, evidence-based care partnerships. The following month, Ukrainian clinicians visited Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base, furthering our commitment to supporting service members, veterans, and families navigating the mental health consequences of modern warfare.
The timing ahead of Veterans Day is particularly significant as DAWN expands its work in international mental health collaboration, supporting Ukrainian veterans and defenders whose courage inspires our mission. This publication arrives as we prepare to ship a 45-foot container of medical aid to Ukraine!
